Election of a Parent-Governor - April 2025
There is a current vacancy for a Parent-Governor, elected by the parents and carers of our school. This role is important for helping our school succeed. The Governing Body works with the Headteacher to support the school's long-term success, and ensure the best care and education for every pupil.
Parent-Governors bring valuable insights to the Governing Body's decisions. They don't represent individual parents but focus on the best interests of all pupils.
If you're a parent or carer of a pupil at Ilchester, you can apply by completing the attached nomination form. Paper copies are available at the school office.
Parent-Governors will continue their role when the school becomes an academy.
All parents or carers of pupils at Ilchester can apply. If more than one person applies, there will be a vote to decide who gets the position. Every parent or carer will have a vote in the election.
Please consider if you'd like to contribute your time and skills as a Governor. Governors serve for four years and meet 3-6 times a year. They also visit the school and attend extra meetings. Some training is essential and is generally provided online. There is lots of help and support available - you don't need to be an expert in education.
The application form includes a brief statement of why you want to be a Governor. This statement will be shared with the Governing Body and parents during voting.
If only one person applies, they will be appointed without a vote.
Submit your application by email or hand it to the school office by 10am on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Late applications won't be accepted.
Some legal reasons may disqualify you from being a Governor. The list of disqualifications is on the back of the application form. Signing the form means you declare you are eligible.
