Sporting Events

At Ilchester Community Primary, we believe that participation in sports is essential for the physical, social, and emotional development of our students. Our sporting events are designed to promote fitness, teamwork, and a love for physical activity. Here are some of the key sporting events we offer:

  1. Sports Days: Our annual sports days are a highlight of the school year, featuring a variety of fun and competitive activities. Students participate in races, relays, and team games, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and school pride. You may even get to see the famous 'race of the teachers'.

  2. Cross Country: Regular cross-country events against other local schools provide students with the opportunity to test their endurance and enjoy the great outdoors. These events are designed to build resilience and perseverance, as well as to encourage a lifelong love of running.

  3. Interschool competitions: Children compete regularly in competitions across a variety of sports against schools from the Yeovil area. Children's individual skills and interests are met through different activities that allow them to take part at a variety of levels; from friendly and fun participation for all to competitive tournaments with progression to a higher level.

  4. After-school clubs: The school offers a range of after-school activities in a variety of active contexts including football, cricket, rounders and yoga.

We are committed to providing a diverse range of sporting opportunities that cater to the interests and abilities of all our students. Stay tuned for specific dates!
